A Gaelic Harper's First Tunes is a replacement for Secrets of the Gaelic Harp, now out of print. Still based on first tunes taught to Gaelic harpers in the old tradition, this new edition has been made more affordable through extensive editing and the conversion of two-color notation to black and white. Although more advanced techniques and arrangements are not included, sections especially relevant to the beginner such as holding the harp, tuning, notation, hand position, sounding the string, nails, replacing strings and string problems have been retained and updated. This book teaches finger placement, damping, damping, independence of hands, cooperation between the hands, legato style, and much more.
