[92200] Staneslow, Sunita
$15.00

The book is for advanced beginners to advanced players. There are very few levers and few awkward spaces. Nothing is very fast. But, there are many improvisational sections that need to feel effortless and free, so musically there is some complexity. In my opinion it can be used as a gig book for advanced harpists who need to add to their Christmas repertoire. I'm an advanced player and I never had the time to start learning Christmas carols in July, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one. Simple but musical is my motto. That way, when they use candle light and romantic winter lighting, I don't panic! This book is best for harpers who tune their harp in at least one flat because 4 of the carols are in 1 flat. One needs 3 flats. 3 are in all natural and 2 use one sharp. 7 out of the 10 pieces require NO lever changes and only the piece "What Child is This" has lots of lever changes. The concept of the book is unusual Celtic carols with an improvisatory feel. There are several well-known carols tossed in to keep everyone happy! There is a companion CD. AWAY IN THE MANGER This popular carol is arranged with the Scottish melody without flats or sharps and no lever changes. The piece is 5 pages, at an intermediate level and is for a 34-string harp. The range is from 5th octave F to 1st octave G. LULLABY OF THE VIRGIN MARY (MANX) This lesser-known carol is arranged with flowing arpeggios for the intermediate level. This carol needs one sharp and there are 8 lever changes. It is 5 pages in length and is for a 34-string harp. The arrangement is from 6th octave D to 1st octave G. WHAT CHILD IS THIS? This popular carol is in the key of E minor, but a C sharp is needed in the piece. There are 31 lever changes and it arranged at an intermediate level. The arrangement is 5 pages and needs a 34-string harp (5th octave E to 1st octave F). THE VIRGIN'S LULLABY This is a traditional modal Irish carol arranged in a flowing style. It needs no flats or sharps and there are no lever changes. It is 3 pages long and for the intermediate level. It is arranged for a 34-string harp (5th octave C to 1st octave G). It is 4 pages in length and for the intermediate level. THe range suits the 34-string harp (5th octave F to 1st octave F). CHRISTMAS DAY IS COME This cheerful Irish carol is in 1 flat and there are NO lever changes. The piece is 6 pages and is for an advanced beginner. The range is best on a 34-string harp (4th octave F to 1st octave F). THAT NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM This is a slow, modal, traditional Irish carol. There is 1 flat and NO lever changes.
