Songs for the Small Harp

This book will give the person owning a small harp a really nice set list that you'll never get tired of playing! Patricia Rushton was a well-loved California harpist who delighted in giving new life to songs for the small harp.  Her arrangements are very good and lay well under the hands.  The selections are unusual.  Most of the tunes can be played on a harp with less than 26 strings. You'll need levers on B,E,F and C.

Setting Sun: Meg Robinson

Setting Sun - A 2011 piece by Meg Robinson.   Three pages, key of C in 6/8 time.  Lots of patterns and almost parallel 6ths.  LH plays a drone of a single note throughout.  Lilting and mesmerizing at the same time. Can be played at a variety of tempos, although marked dotted quarter note equals 70.  The piece incorporates accents, and pdlt.

The King's Delight: Suzanne Guldimann

The pieces in this collection range from the earliest known extant piece of western music to the ballads and dances of the 17th C.  There are  country dances, folksongs, ballads and songs and dances from the royal courts and halls of Europe.  All can be played on a lap harp with range from C up to G. Chord changes are provided.  There are also some lyrics, some with translations, and historical notes.  The music is written in a very open and basic manner, allowing the player room to embellinh and improvise.
