Autumn Moon by Frank Voltz

As a faculty member at Southeastern Harp Weekend 2011, Mr. Voltz gave a workshop on composition. The participants learned the essential elements for creating a composition - so they picked a key, selected a time signature, chose a few notes for the A section and a few more notes for the B section, began the creation process, and ended up with a delightful 16-bar piece.  Mr. Voltz liked its bones and decided to enhance and enlarge it into a more thoroughly composed piece.

Moon Over the Mountain

An experienced backpacker, Sharon Thormahlen has written the tunes in this book as a reflection of the many places journeyed over the years.  She started backpacking as a teenager with her parents, and continues to do so with her own family.  She says that being in the solitude of the mountains surrounded by the beauty of the flowers, trees, rivers, creeks, canyons and the snowcapped peaks is an astoundingly spiritual experience.  All tunes are and organized in the order of keys starting with F and ending with D. There are no lever changes.

If Only: Meg Robinson

Here is a wistful, dreamy piece, to be played freely and with emotion. There are many repeating patterns for the left and right hands, making it a lot easier to play than it may first appear. In the middle contrasting section, the melody and accompaniment are more distinct, separated by the right and left hands. The final section combines the first and middle sections. Key of F, some large chords, lowest note is the F (#33 on a 36-string harp), no accidentals. Intermediate.
