Pedal Harp Solos

How Great Thou Art: arr. Barnwell

Rhett Barnwell's newest arrangement is of one of the most popular and requested hymns, "How Great Thou Art", for lever or pedal harp. Crafted for the intermediate player, it opens with a contemplative introduction, followed by the theme in the right hand, accompanied by a sixteenth note pattern in the left hand. Played at a slow tempo, and with much rubato, the sixteenth patterns will fall readily into the left hand. The arrangement makes use of alternate harmonizations and rhythms from the original, while easily recognizable as the popular hymn.

Comfort Medley: Angi Bemiss

"Comfort Medley" includes "Dear Refuge of My Weary Soul" and "Hide Away in the Love of Jesus."  This arrangement is very straightforward, easy to play and easy to read.  It sounds great.  You receive the arrangement in both the keys of Eb and C.

Sonata in D Major: MW Smith arr. Bemiss

"Sonata in D Major" by Michael W. Smith.  Works well as a wedding recessional arrangement, as the harp's strings ring out like cathedral bells!  Angi's music is straightforward, and comes in both Eb and C. Her arrangements are very playable and sound great.

Volume 2 Unforgettable Theatre Treasures

A great selection of very playable and enjoyable songs from the movies we know and love. Angi Bemiss' music is highly playable and well thought out. This is volume 2, and the book comes either in the key of C or Eb, whichever you prefer.  Both keys are not in the same book.

It is in the key of D, with no lever changes. Helpful fingerings and placings are provided, along with chord symbols. This composition is the title track from TAPESTRY’s CD, The Red Leaf. Lever or pedal harp. Friendly page turns.

Funeral March for a Marionette - Gounod arr. Landy

Originally a piano piece, part of a “Suite Burlesque,” this piece became familiar to many of us as the theme from the weekly tv show, “Alfred Hitchcock Presents.” It is a mock funeral march, with a contrasting heroic middle section. The only difficulty is at the end: originally too chromatic altogether, I have recomposed the ending, but it includes some quick and precise pedalling: C-sharp-natural-flat. This can best be managed by a staccato technique followed by a pedal slide, all in keeping with the character of the piece. Advanced intermediate, pedal harp. 5 pages.

Chopin Nocturne in Eb arr. Landy

Nocturne in Eb, op. 9 #2, by Chopin (for pedal harp)

One of the best known, and simplest, of the Nocturnes, it is also well suited to harp, except that it requires intensive and precise pedalling. The finger technique is not at all demanding. Advanced intermediate, 5 pages.

This is a beautiful piece, and some of you may remember it as "My Twilight Dream" - the Eddy Duchin Theme Song.  When I learned this piece as a child on the piano, that's what my mother called it. --mr
