Claire Pershan was born on June 10, 1992, and composed most of the work in these 2 volumes at ages 12 and 13. She has won two composition prizes in her home state of Connecticut. Claire’s first volume of compositions, a suite of Arthurian songs for harp called “King Arthur’s Court”, was published in 2005 and Therese Honey edited the book in 2009. Therese says: “This book is delightful, not just because it was written by a talented and young composer, but because it fills a musical need for harp students of all ages. The compositions in “Travels End” are creative with some unusual harmonies. Their main characteristic is the use of three-note chords and arpeggios. This is very important in the development of technique, and for those not yet ready to play full 4-note chords. Congratulations, Claire, for a job well done.” Therese Honey, August 2009
In 2010, Claire’s book “Travel’s End” became a standard pedagogy book for college curriculum.
