Mary Muckle, harpist, singer, harp choir director and teacher lives in Ottawa, Canada. Her inspiration to compose comes largely from her harp students, for whom she has made many arrangements for harp and voice and for harp ensemble.
Her goal in ensemble writing is to see that each harp part is melodically inspiring. The music is carefully crafted to encourage the development of listening skills in ensemble. Usually one of the two harp parts requires less skill to play as it is often not possible to have equally matched partners. The "Three Folksong Duets" are good example of this last point.
