This CD of songs from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and other medieval sources contains seventeen works performed by Wood on Celtic harp, Gothic harp, keyboard, and vocals, with other vocals by Ross Allured, Laurie Robertson, and Tina Wing, and with Charles Coley on flute and recorder, Sylvia Hankin on percussion, and guitar by Tina Wing. Several of the songs Chaucer mentions still survive, and there are others from his day that are concerned with his plots, themes, or characters. Wood collected the songs and arranged them for contemporary musicians and wrote a history of the harp in England in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. The songs themselves and her book are published by Mel Bay. Superbly engineered by Ken Turner at EMF Productions, The Chaucer Songbook was listed as one of five finalists in the Celtic music category of the 1999 Crossroads International Music Competition. The CD comes with a twelve page booklet containing the history of the songs, their role in the literature, and translations and is now at The Harp Center. Titles: Angelus Ad Virginem, Symlen Ben-bys, Ne Qu'on Porroit, King Orfeo, My Lief Is Faren in a Londe (melody 1), My Lief Is Faren in a Londe (melody 2), Sanctus, Alma Redemptoris Mater, The Pear Tree, I Have a Gentil Cock, Ich Am of Irlaunde, Edi Be Thin, Roundel of the Birds, Ton Y Brenhin, Maid in the Moor, Alma Redemptoris Mater (harp Solo), Glenkindie
