All Through the Night Ar Hyd y Nos
arr. Fran McGaughey 2012
Pedal or Lever Harp  F  Major

For two harps with optional solo instrument or voice (solo instrument and voice parts are the same.)  Sometimes the harp parts are doubled, and often they are quite independent.  Very nice arrangement.

In America, this is a usual “Christmas Carol.”  It is also lovely Welsh lullaby and this favorite music is fair to use any time of year!  It is also used at Welsh weddings and many other occasions throughout the year. Therefore, this piece offers more playing time for everyone behind the harp or solo instrument or singing the vocal part.  Cello for the solo instrument would be especially nice!

Ar Hyd y Nos (English: All Through the Night) is a Welsh folksong sung to a tune that was first recorded in Edward Jones' Musical and Poetical Relics of the Welsh Bards (1784). The Welsh lyrics were written by John Ceiriog Hughes, and has been translated into several languages, including English (most famously by Harry Boulton[1]) and Breton. One of the earliest English versions was by Thomas Oliphant in 1862.[2]
